Children and Accidents

So our boys are very much boys, they ride motorbike, the run a hundred mile an hour, they play lots of sport, and never slow down.

So like any normal full on child they always have bruised chins stubbed toes, scrapped knees and elbows.

So Buddha following the tradition of his big brothers RUNS everywhere, never walks, the other night I said to Zed, will you be right playing with Buddha for a hour while me and the big boys go to the gym (in our complex)? He said yeah we will be fine. So the big boys and I jogged up to the gym, I had done one exercise and there is a knock at the door.

Opened it up and here is Zed and Buddha standing there, covered in blood. Oh my god, what happened? Zed nearly in tears tells me "Buddha and me where playing chase around the lounge room" (a daily activity in our house) "and he tripped on the doona behind the lounge and head butted the coffee table".

The doonas we have behind the lounge because it’s freezing in our house we have aircon 24/7 and the stupid little coffee table I only moved there the other day. :(

So we all had blood everywhere by the time we got home, he probably could have done with a few stitches but Zed and I made up some homemade butterflies stitches and pulled it together and it came together pretty well.

Master T did the same thing when he was a little older, head butted Grandmas window sill had to have a few stitches in the exact same place, so they will have the same scar same size and shape.

EXPLAINING WHAT DRIVING IS LIKE IN INDONESIA

OK, so after my blog about our accident I realized I hadn't had a blab about What the driving is like here!!!! Then I got to thinking WELL how do I explain it, words can’t really explain it but I will try.

So when we came to Indonesia we had to share a driver while we waited for hours, A lot of the time people say "its better if you just don't look" these drivers are trained and have been living here their whole lives so they know what they are doing.
So we get our new car and our own driver so I had no need to drive, Zed had driven a few times on Sundays and such, with me in the passenger’s seat saying "oh watch that scooter, ahh babe, oh , ahhh, oh watch that" which no doubt pissed him off!!!!!!

When we moved into our house our driver was sick so I had to drive Zed to work and take the car WOW I was nervous to say the least, you have to dodge scooters on each side in front and watch them at the back. Beeps here there and everywhere telling you "hey I'm here watch out" I could seriously be rally driver when we come home and dodge trees instead of scooters (and that no exaggeration ).

You have whole families on one scooter and children don't wear helmets!!!!!!

White lines on the road mean absolutely nothing, traffic lights sometimes do and sometimes don't, roundabouts work totally different, and zebra crossings mean "Go when you can without being run over because no one will stop" , people just swerve from this lane to that, no blinkers ahhhh its so crazy to drive here the first few times!
And then there are these little guys who are everywhere they sell toys, balloons, candy and such. So I hope that this has showed you what it is like to drive over here and possibly why a scooter ran into the back of us ( cause some of them are crazy riders) Oh and FYI if there is an accident between a car and scooter the car is always at fault no matter the situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O
How bad is that!!!!

CRAPPY WEEK EXPAT STYLE PART 2

Continued:

So my driver pulls over and jumps out of the car, leaving me (cripple), master T, boof and Buddha in the car in the middle of a driveway sideways running, and i look behind us and a scooter had ran into the back of our car and the rider was unconscious in the middle of the road, GREAT!!!!

So i call Zed, like 19 times, (i later found out that he was in a meeting) i had no number for office which was only 500 meters up the road but in the state i was in and 3 kids and trying to cross the road and walk was not going to happen.

So this big Indonesian guard for the company that we were parked in the driveway of comes and opens my door talking Indonesian to me, then gesture's for the kids to get out of the car, one of which had no shoes, the car was full of the kids bikes, and bags from staying at a friends house! so I'm attempting to get out of the car with my knee, the guard is getting the kids out then all these guys caring the unconscious rider brings him to my car, loads him in and off go's my car and driver...... :O

So i ring my friend to come and get us, and she came straight away! i have some fantastic friend here in Borneo, these woman have been amazing and so helpful with everything! I'm so lucky!

So then Tuesday, most of Wednesday we have no car, no driver, so i missed the delivery of fresh milk, then on and off all week with no car, or driver its hard enough to get stuff done in this place when you have a driver everyday let alone try and fit it in when you have them maybe 1 day for a week.

But all good should be settling down now and then we go on holidays in 2 weeks !!!!!
